Kita Kinderburg Hamburg Borgfelde – information in English

Dear parents,

Welcome to the Kinderburg daycare center information page.

Our daycare center (Kita)

Our daycare center (Kita) is called Kinderburg because the listed building in the heart of Hamburg radiates strength and security – like a castle, a protected setting and enlivened by its children, families and team.

Once inside, the beautiful Kita with its impressive entrance hall and the individually and lovingly designed group rooms and play areas in the hall/gallery and the functional rooms quickly become visible.

Our well-trained staff also respond individually and lovingly to individual children from all over the world. A good relationship between teachers, children and parents is an important basis for our time together and for working together for the benefit of the children in our care. As a result, the child experiences security and trust and can develop well at their own pace and take this “step by step”.
This is important to us

Every child, regardless of their origin, circumstances and cultural background, should feel comfortable at the Kita Kinderburg , find caregivers and play partners and develop, try out and learn at their own pace.

The partially open concept and the principle of child participation support this in the daily interaction between the children and the teachers.

We incorporate the children’s ideas and wishes into the planning of everyday educational activities, as it strengthens a child when their suggestions are taken up and implemented. If there are several suggestions, the children vote together or look for solutions and alternatives for the group. In this way, they learn through play how democracy works and what part they can play in it.

A major focus of our work is the children’s language education. We have additional language education specialists who support our teachers in their daily work. Singing together, reading books aloud, short plays and picture book cinema are just some of the methods that stimulate and encourage the children to develop their German language skills.

The children also have the opportunity to gain new experiences by experimenting with water, air, magnetism, technology, mathematics, light, colors, sounds and noises under guidance and supervision. In this way, they learn early on that science is fun.

Of course, we also spend a lot of time outdoors. Together with us, the children explore their neighborhood and the play opportunities offered in public spaces. This means that road safety education and getting along in traffic and public places is a recurring learning area.

The groups also go on age-appropriate excursions throughout the city. From the botanical garden in the west, we travel along the Elbe and Alster rivers to Bergedorf Castle in the east of Hamburg. The airport in the north is also a popular destination for the children. Thanks to our central location, we also visit the theaters in the area from time to time.

Registration/application for a place on the waiting list is possible after the birth of the child via the “green registration button” (at the top of  https://www.pestalozzi-kita.de/kita-hamburg-borgfelde) and the form provided there. You may visit the Kita during pregnancy.

We look forward to seeing you and your child and wish you all the best from Bethesdastrasse.
